Natural Headache Remedies

Many of us resort to drugs available at the pharmacy in order to treat a headache. What many of us don’t know is that there are a wide variety of natural headache remedies that are just as effective (if not more effective) then what the local pharmacy has to offer. The ingredients to prepare and treat a headache are not only very affordable, but can be found at your local grocery store.

There are many types of headaches that we’ll experience which are brought on by a variety of reasons. The most popular, and most powerful, being a tension related headache. The trigger for this type of headache are most commonly due to neck pain, anxiety, stress, depression, and muscle tension in the shoulders and head. Tension headache relief using drugs available at the pharmacy only offer temporary relief, while natural headache remedies provide long term relief offering a more permanent solution.

Other types of common headaches that can be treated with natural headache remedies include sinus headaches, cluster headaches, and migraines. You should always consult with a doctor if your headache has been brought on by fever or other types of sicknesses, or if you’ve received bodily trauma. Also, consult a doctor if your headache is persistent and does not respond to any type or form of remedy.

Here are some simple and effective natural headache remedies that are easy to prepare and apply:

Natural Headache Remedy using Lemon – Most find that this particular remedy is the most effective for mild to moderate headaches. Simply juice 1 whole lemon into a cup of tea or warm water, and sip casually. The results are usually immediate. Another remedy using lemon is to pound a few lemon peels into a fine paste and apply to the forehead and temples. This also provides relief.

Natural Headache Remedy using Cinnamon – If a headache is encountered by exposure to cold hair, mix some cinnamon spice with warm water and apply to the temples and forehead for relief.

Natural Headache Remedy using Apple – For common headaches that occur on a daily basis, consume a ripe apple with a little salt every day for breakfast for approximately 1 week. This type of treatment is very effective when treating and preventing headaches.

Natural Headache Remedy using Marjoram – When a headache is brought on by nervousness, steep Marjoram leaves in hot water for natural headache relief.

Natural Headache Remedy using Henna – Headaches caused by high exposure to heat or the sun can be effectively treated using Henna. Simply rub the Henna flowers in vinegar and apply to the forehead.

Natural Headache Remedy using Rosemary – If a headache arises due to exposure from the cold, a half cup of this herb can be boiled in a liter of water then transferred to a suitable bowl. With your head over the bowl and a towel draped over, inhale the steam for as long as possible. Repeat until relief occurs.

Through proper nutrition and physical exercise, a natural resistance can be built up to prevent headaches from occurring in the future. Some other natural headache remedies that are completely safe and effective include water treatment (cold throat pack, hot towel on the back of the neck, cold towel on face or head), and a soothing hot foot bath.
